This months blog offers an insight in to one of my foundational pillars of my work which is moon work, I work with client to help them understand the magic of the moon and how it can effects them emotionally, so they are able to understand themselves on a deeper level and begin to empower their responses within the world.

Now you may have noticed that I talk about the moon A LOT, my online ceremonies are structured around the most prominent phases during the lunar month and I wanted to share the reasoning behind this.

I have always been drawn to the moon both visually and emotionally. Ever since the lyrics of the 1990’s hit song “Regulate” by Warren G and Nate Dogg painted an unforgettable image of “A clear black night a clear white moon” and I have understood the role it plays here on earth.

Wether you are conscious of this or not, what happens above our heads in the night sky plays a huge role in how we respond here on earth. From planets going retrograde, eclipses stirring things up, and planets squaring. All of these movements in the sky create can create havoc and harmony within the collective. You may be a passionate astrologer already and know this or it may be completely new to you. But I believe that understanding basic astrology can make our lives a hella lot easier. The easiest one to track, for me has always been the moon and this is where I connect all of my clients as a starting point.

One of the most obvious things about the moon is her ability to control the tides on earth. In astrology, the moon rules the sign cancer, which is a water sign, and water is linked to our emotions (Cancer moon anyone?). We as human beings are made up of up to 70% water, so it is highly likely that something that can effect the tides on earth,  may have an impact on our emotions too! We can also look at the female menstrual cycle which again is usually 28 days, the same as a lunar month and it is common for women to menstruate either on a full or new moon! Pretty neat!

My own lunar experiment began in 2017 when I went to the Amazon rainforest for an intensive retreat with plant medicine ayahuasca. I entered the jungle as we dropped into Scorpio season, Jupiter had just landed in Scorpio and our first ceremony was due on the Scorpio Full Moon. That day I got my period, and to be honest, it was the worst pain I had ever experienced. I was vomiting, had intense pain and my anger levels were through the roof. that was really the starting point of my investigation, I came to learn that Scorpio, the sign of the unconscious, unseen and hidden. Was showing me exactly where I wasn’t free.

Now have you ever noticed how some days you feel energetic, happy and full of life, and some days you might feel emotional, drained or completely down in the dumps. Could this be coincidental or could the moon have something to do with that? See, every 2-3 days the moon moves into a different astrological sign, taking a whole lunar month to move through all twelve. Each sign holds a different vibration and different vibe which will also alter the energy within the collective.

Now I am no astrologer but I recommend that everyone looks for key things within their birth chart as a key element into becoming emotionally sovereign. I completely understand that astrology can be overwhelming for the average person to understand. I would however look for the basics and themes that may appear.

For example,

What is your sun sign?

What is your Moon sign?

What is your ascendant?

Are there themes in your chart for example a lot of planets in Pisces or a lot of planets in fire or water signs? These are all key elements for helping navigate your mood and emotions.

Then I would recommend as a starting point

How do you feel when the moon is in your sun sign eg Aries?

How do you feel when the moon is in your moon sign eg Capricorn?

If you have a lot of planets in one sign eg Pisces how do you feel when the moon is in that sign?

If you have a lot of the same elements (earth, fire, air, and water) for example earth signs would be Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn, how does that feel?

How do you feel on a Full Moon and how does that feel different from the New Moon?

I highly recommend getting a moon tracking app on your phone which will make tracking a lot easier for you and journal your feelings. This will help you prepare for how you may be feeling in the future. You can find one HERE

For those who want to learn how to read their birth chart properly. I highly recommend looking up astrologer Francesca Oddie’s course “ How To Read Your Birth Chart” you can connect with her on instagram HERE.

I understand that not everyone believes or cares for astrology and the reason I am sharing this is because it has worked so well for many of my clients. It has helped connect them back to themselves and in deeper harmony with the earth, allowing a greater sense of connection to something bigger than themselves. This is why I invite tracking for yourself to see how this may or may not be true for you.
